Solitaire

Solitaire is the world's favorite card game for one: sorting a shuffled deck at your own pace, move by move, until every card climbs to the foundations. Tap a card to send it to the best spot, or drag it if you prefer.

There are four modes. In Classic, the difficulty sets whether the stock deals 1, 2 or 3 cards. Spider and Spiderette use one suit from Easy to Hard and two on Extra hard. FreeCell shows every card, with five free cells on Easy and four on the other levels.

How to play

  • This is a classic Solitaire game. Move all cards to the foundation, from Ace to King, each in its own suit.
  • Depending on the selected difficulty, different numbers of cards are revealed.

On the keyboardSpace or D draws from the stock (deals in Spider), Z undoes, Y redoes in Spider; click a card to send it to the best spot or drag it.

Tips to play better

  1. 1In Classic, uncover the hidden cards in the tallest columns first. That is usually where the cards you need most are stuck.
  2. 2An empty column in Classic only takes a King. Before you clear one, make sure a King is ready to move in and free up another pile.
  3. 3In Spider any card can go on the next rank up, but only same-suit runs move together. Build in one suit whenever you can.
  4. 4In FreeCell, treat the free cells as a last resort. Filling one at the wrong moment can trap the very card that unlocks the layout.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between Spider and Spiderette?

Spider uses two decks across ten columns. Spiderette uses a single deck in seven columns, for shorter games.

Can every FreeCell game be solved?

Yes. The deals come from the classic FreeCell games, all solvable, and since every card is face up you can plan from the very first move.
