About the game
Checkers
Checkers is the classic of pieces sliding along the diagonals and jumping over each other. This version follows English rules on an 8x8 board: regular pieces only move forward, and a king moves one square at a time along any diagonal.
Play the bot on three levels or a friend on the same device. Mandatory jumping is optional and you switch it on when choosing the mode. Without it, you can even stop halfway through a multiple jump. Against the bot you also get an undo and the option to offer a draw.
How to play
- Move one piece diagonally forwards to an adjacent unoccupied dark square. Jump over an opponent's piece to capture it; multiple captures can be made in a single turn with the same piece.
- Reach the last row to become a King, which can also move backwards. Win by capturing all of the opponent's pieces or by blocking them so they can't move!
On the keyboardArrows pick a square and Enter or Space selects the piece and moves it; F finishes the move during multiple captures and U undoes.
Tips to play better
- 1The bot always jumps when it can, even with mandatory jumping off. Offer a piece as bait to open the way for a double jump of your own.
- 2Hold your back row for as long as you can. While it stays occupied, your opponent's pieces have nowhere to be crowned.
- 3Kings here move just one square at a time. Their strength is moving backwards, not crossing the board, so bring them close to the action.
- 4Getting crowned ends your turn on the spot. If a piece is about to become a king, check first whether another piece has a better jump.

Frequently asked questions
Is jumping mandatory in Checkers?
Only if you want it to be. You can turn on mandatory jumping when picking the mode; with it off, you can even stop a multiple jump with Finish move.
How does a draw work?
Against the bot, when positions repeat or only kings keep moving for a long time without a capture, the Offer draw option appears.
